Known in the Far East as “black diamond,” bamboo charcoal is obtained by carbonizing the bamboo wood at temperatures of 800–1,200 degrees Celsius. Since the ratio of surface area to weight increases during this process, its absorption capacity also rises.
At the same time, bamboo is the fastest-growing tree in the world and will regrow from its existing roots even if cut at ground level. This makes bamboo a sustainable and environmentally friendly raw material.
